Mainstream is an unusual Canoe club in that it exists
primarily for the benefit of its non members.
A big part of Mainstream’s work has always been to encourage members to gain coaching qualifications to use in the service of our Lord one another and especially all those who otherwise might never get a chance to play around in boats. Where possible Mainstream helps to provide or subsidise coach training courses. We benefit from having many senior coaches as members who freely give their time to help us.
Regular events in our calendar include both a training weekend for all those starting out in Canoeing and Kayaking where courses up to 3 star are run as well as FSRT and similar and a Coaches weekend to train coaches, this weekend includes a coach update session.
Many of our members help run youth camps both here in the UK and abroad, as a club we also run a family camp in the summer holidays and a ‘come and try’ weekend in late June or early July.
